Pippy: New Website Enables Applicants to Check Status of
Property Tax/Rent Rebates
www.papropertytaxrelief.com
Harrisburg -- Pennsylvania residents can now check the status of their
Property Tax/Rent Rebates online, according to state Sen. John Pippy (R-37).
Pippy said the Department of Revenue hosts a new website
www.papropertytaxrelief.com which will provide information on claim status,
rebate amount and the date a rebate is expected to be mailed or
direct-deposited.
Six weeks after residents submit a Property Tax/Rent Rebate application, they
can visit the site and access their information by entering the following:
- Social Security number
- Anticipated rebate amount
- Date of birth
The department will begin distributing checks on July 1, 2009.
"The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program provides property tax relief and rent
rebates of up to $650 to many low-income senior citizens," said Pippy. "This can
be of great assistance to households where property taxes or rent are among the
biggest expenses. The new website can help families budget by indicating the
claim status, rebate amount and the date a rebate is expected to be mailed or
direct-deposited. I encourage anyone who thinks they may be eligible for a
rebate to sign up, and then use the website to track the application."
