Sen. Pippy and Rep. Mustio Applaud Decision to Keep Current
Staffing Levels With 911th

State Senator John Pippy (R-37) and State Representative Mark Mustio (R-44) today applauded the decision by the members of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission to keep the current staffing levels at the 911th ARS.  Throughout the process, Pippy, Mustio, and others have pressed the Commission concerning the present and future benefits that the Airport offers as an Air Reserve location. 

Pippy and Mustio expressed their appreciation for the hard work of the county, state, and federal delegation to present the benefits of keeping the Air Reserve Station in the region.  In addition to the elected officials, the public has been incredibly supportive and involved in the process by sending thousands of signatures and hundreds of petitions.  "We want to thank the regional BRAC Task Force members for their hard work and dedication for bringing the evidence to light and making several trips to Washington, DC to present the benefits and necessity of a military presence in Western Pennsylvania," said Mustio and Pippy. 

Pippy and Mustio were disheartened by the news that the 99th RSC and the Kelly Support Facility will be closed, but are hopeful that a new joint reserve center in the region will preserve the jobs affected by the closure.  They also believe that this will provide the opportunity to establish a new Commissary and Post Exchange for area veterans, and they will continue to press for its construction.  Because of the high number of veterans in the region, Western Pennsylvania must have a commissary available to these men and women.  "We will continue to make a compelling argument that a commissary would be heavily used and that this service should be available to these men and women, who served and are serving a grateful nation," said Mustio and Pippy.
