Pippy: Deadlines Approaching for College Tuition Aid Harrisburg – Pennsylvania students seeking State Grant aid have two important deadlines to mark on their calendar, state Sen. John Pippy (R-37) said today. Students must complete the 2005-06 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the following deadlines. · May 1, 2005 is the deadline for: o All students seeking to renew their State Grant aid regardless of their program of study. o All other applicants for Bachelor degree programs including those enrolling in college transfer programs at two-year community or junior colleges. · August 1, 2005 is the deadline for: o All first-time applicants for State Grant aid who plan to enroll in business, trade or technical schools, hospital schools of nursing or two-year terminal (non-transferable) programs at community, junior or four-year colleges. Pippy said the State Grant Program provides grants to eligible Pennsylvania undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need to attend a post-secondary educational institution approved by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency. Students with access to the Internet are encouraged to file their FAFSA via http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. "Planning for college is not easy, and parents and students already have plenty of stats and deadlines to worry about," said Pippy. "But Pennsylvania has a wide array of assistance to help make college education more affordable, and it's important that applications be filled out by the deadline." ### CONTACT: Matt Campion (412) 262-2260
