IMMEDIATE RELEASE House approves Senator Pippy’s tax credit bill Legislation extending program headed to Governor Rendell The state House of Representatives this week approved a bill introduced by Senator John Pippy that encourages employers to hire former welfare recipients and sent the measure on to Governor Ed Rendell for his signature and enactment into law. Senate Bill 1190, which the Senate approved in July, extends the sunset date of the employment incentive tax credit from December 31, 2004 to December 31, 2009. “I am pleased that the General Assembly acted to protect this important incentive program. This provides tax relief to employers who hire and keep people who previously were on welfare,” Senator Pippy said.
