Steve Largent Passes Praise to
Senator Pippy
Hall-Of-Famer Spearheads Rally to Repeal Cell Phone
Tax
NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Steve Largent today
high-fived State Senator John Pippy for his support of
legislation to spike Pennsylvania's cell phone tax. Largent, president and CEO of CTIA – The Wireless
Association, presented Senator Pippy with a signed
football imprinted with the text "Sack the cell phone
tax."
Largent led a rally in the Capitol rotunda
Monday to blast the "double tax" Pennsylvanians paying
on their wireless bills. He said the charge makes
Pennsylvania the eighth-highest-ranked state in terms
of taxes and fees on wireless service. "We appreciate
Senator Pippy's support of Senate Bill 1156 to repeal
that excessive taxation, benefiting Pennsylvania
businesses and consumers." said Largent.
Also on hand
to recognize Senator Pippy was Jim Broussard, chairman
of Citizens Against Higher Taxes. Broussard presented
Senator Pippy with a certificate in honor of his
co-sponsorship of Senate Bill 1156.
"We very much
appreciate the vigilant efforts being made by Senator
Pippy on behalf of all Pennsylvanians to reduce their
tax burden," Broussard said. "It's just not fair to
make Pennsylvanians pay two taxes on the same service.
This tax hits Pennsylvania consumers hard."
