FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE Senator Pippy named "Guardian of Small Business"Award recognizes votes on health care, legal reform, tax measuresCiting Senator John Pippy's voting record on key issues, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has recognized him as a "Guardian of Small Business." The Guardian of Small Business Award is presented by NFIB to legislators who voted favorably on key small business issues at least 75 percent of the time during the 2003-04 Legislative Session. These issues include health care, legal reform, competition and a variety of tax measures, according to Kevin Shivers, NFIB's state director for Pennsylvania. "Small-business owners pay close attention to how their elected representatives vote," Shivers said in a letter announcing the award. "While many lawmakers claim to support small business, your NFIB voting record shows that you were a true and consistent advocate for small businesses during the legislative session. This award is to thank you for representing the views and concerns of the job creators in your district." While saying that he appreciates the award, Senator Pippy said he is proud to support small businesses and the people they employ. "This is truly an honor to receive this award from the NFIB. Small businesses are the backbone of our communities and they are the keystones of the Keystone State," Senator Pippy said. "The vast majority of Pennsylvania's businesses have less than 100 employees. We must remember small companies as we work to make Pennsylvania a better place to do business. They are the key to real economic revitalization and job growth in the Commonwealth." |
