IMMEDIATE RELEASE Two Local Fire Departments
Receive State Honors Two local fire departments have been recognized by the State Fire Commissioner for participating in the Pennsylvania Fire Service Certification Program, according to Senator John Pippy, R-37th Senatorial District. Jefferson 885 Volunteer Fire Company of Jefferson Hills received a silver award for having at least 75 percent of its active members certified to at least one of the National Fire Protection Association's Fire Service Professional Qualifications level. Mt. Lebanon Fire Department received a bronze award for having at least 50 percent of its active members certified. "The training firefighters receive can mean the difference between life and death," Senator Pippy said. "We appreciate the service of our fire fighters and it is appropriate that the State Fire Commissioner recognize their professionalism and dedication with these awards."
