ALLEGHENY COUNTY COMMUNITIES GET RECYCLING GRANTS
14 municipalities rewarded for "performance"
Fourteen Allegheny County communities will receive recycling grants
from the state Department of Environmental Protection, according to
Senator John Pippy, R-37th District.
All told, the communities will share $89,248 in awards from the DEP's
Recycling Performance Grant Program. The grants are based on overall
recycling rates for those communities during 2002, Senator Pippy said.
The grant recipients include:
- Aleppo Township, $489;
- Bridgeville Borough, $1.255;
- Emsworth Borough, $328;
- Findlay Township, $10,679;
- Leet Township, $880;
- Moon Township, $15,321;
- North Fayette Township, $2,788;
- Ohio Township, $4,067;
- Pleasant Hills Borough, $3,031;
- Sewickley Borough, $1,129;
- Sewickley Hills Borough, $89;
- South Park Township, $7,515;
- Upper St. Clair Township, $32,120;
- Whitehall Borough, $9,557.
"These grant rewards communities for their efforts and shows that
recycling does pay off, both in preserving our environment and in funds
from the state," Senator Pippy said. "These grants are a tribute to the
recycling efforts of residents and businesses."
